Symbiosis Names Jos Vergeest Senior Business Development Director

Symbiosis Pharmaceutical Services has appointed Jos Vergeest as Senior Business Development Director, adding three decades of commercial pharmaceutical experience as the Scottish CDMO pursues further international growth.

Joanne Anderson, Symbiosis Chief Commercial Officer, said, “Jos understands the challenges that pharmaceutical companies face, and has spent a large part of his career helping drug developers work effectively with specialist manufacturing partners. He also brings first-hand experience of a CDMO expanding its capacity and client base while protecting the quality and personal service customers value. That experience will be extremely valuable as Symbiosis continues to grow.”

Experience

Vergeest joins Symbiosis after holding sales, marketing and management roles at GSK and AstraZeneca, followed by senior business development work in the CDMO sector with HALIX and Wacker Biotech.

At HALIX, he supported the company’s growth from start-up to mid-sized CDMO. Most recently, he led business development activities across Europe and Asia for Wacker Biotech.

“Pharmaceutical companies are looking for CDMOs that offer real partnerships,” Vergeest said, adding that business development is about building trust, understanding customer needs and solving challenges collaboratively.

The appointment comes as Symbiosis builds on a £26 million investment program that has expanded its sterile manufacturing capacity for larger-scale clinical and commercial programs.

Based in the Netherlands, Vergeest will focus on establishing new strategic partnerships, strengthening existing client relationships and ensuring customer insight informs Symbiosis’ growth plans across the Benelux and DACH regions.
